Former Banning running back Michael Alo has died
Michael Alo, one of the best football players in the history of Banning High and a two-time City Section player of the year, died on Monday, Coach John Aponte said. He was 53.
Alo helped lead the 1980 Banning team to an unbeaten season and was named the national player of the year by the Atlanta Touchdown Club.
He was a 6-foot, 220-pound running back. Banning won its fifth consecutive City title in 1980.
Alo went to USC but an injury hindered his playing career.
