Southern Section prepares for major changes in playoff format
Southern Section Commissioner Rob Wigod continues to give hints about the major changes he hopes will take place beginning in 2016 regarding playoff placement.
In a message from the commissioner posted on Monday, he reported that a competitive-based playoff model has been endorsed by the Executive Committee and the Southern Section-Private Committee.
If passed, leagues would no longer be placed into divisions for section championships. It would be individual schools based on their performance in a particular sport.
He believes that would help create “a level playing field for all schools” in the Southern Section.
