Track: Dorsey, Carson win City Section team titles

Dorsey Coach Ralph Tilley won his 15th City Section boys track and field championship, and he can thank getting out many of his school’s top athletes for the accomplishment on Thursday night.
There were football and basketball players galore scoring points for the Dons.
Jojo Lambey, a basketball player, led a one-two Dons finish in the triple jump with a winning effort of 45-8 1/4. Mark Nunez led another one-two Dons finish in the 400 with a winning time of 48.79. Basketball standout Tommie Groce won the high jump at 6-6.
All-City football player Marquis Williams of Garfield won the long jump with a school-record effort of 23-0 1/2.
Sophomore Daniel Kamulali of Chatsworth won the 100 in 10.66. Paul Luevano of Venice completed a sweep of the distance races, winning the 1,600 in 4:11.18 and 3,200 in 9:10.11
Carson ran away with the girls’ team title. The Colts set a City record in the 4 x 100 relay, winning in 45.42. It broke the record held by Dorsey since 1982.
Kaelin Roberts of Carson won the 400 in 54.03 and the 200 in 24.08. Teresa Castillo of Bravo won the 800 in 2:19.91 and the 1,600 in 5:16.45.
