WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year, WrestleMania 29, was held Sunday in New Jersey and many fans, especially those who hate John Cena, were interested in the results, specifically who would win the match between Cena and The Rock.

Most fans who don’t like Cena (pretty much any male over the age of 18), were hoping that Cena would lose. They are tired of his character. But, WWE has a business to run. Cena sells more merchandise than any other wrestler, he is the face of the company, and the match result Sunday was the best for long-term business.

Sunday’s results:

Wade Barrett (champion) vs. The Miz for the Intercontinental Title

Miz won clean in the middle with the figure four leg lock. So, the de-pushing of Barrett continues, which I find quite mystifying.

The Shield vs. Randy Orton, Sheamus and Big Show

The Shield won when Dean Ambrose pinned Orton after a spear by Roman Reigns. Big Show then knocked out his partners after the match. The finish came after Sheamus went to tag Big Show to finish off The Shield, but Orton leaned over to steal the tag. Beginning of an Orton heel turn?

Ryback vs. Mark Henry

Mark Henry pinned Ryback, after Henry grabbed the ropes while Ryback had him on his shoulders, causing Ryback to lose his balance. Ryback gave Henry the Shellshock after the match to nearly no reaction from the crowd. It seems Ryback has gone from the hottest guy on the roster to just another guy now.

Daniel Bryan and Kane (champions) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston for the Tag Team Titles

Kane choke slammed Ziggler and tagged Bryan, who used a diving head-butt for the pin.

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango

Jericho went for The Walls of Jericho when Fandango surprised him with an inside cradle for the pin. Decent match, but the Fandango character just screams lower-card heel to me.

Alberto Del Rio (champion) vs. Jack Swagger for the World Title

Swagger tapped out to the arm bar in the middle of the ring.

Undertaker vs. C.M. Punk

Punk showed why he is the best overall wrestler on the roster by making the live crowd actually think he had a chance to win and end Undertaker’s 20-0 streak after he hit Undertaker with the urn. Undertaker went on to win though after two tombstone piledrivers.

Brock Lesnar vs. HHH

The crowd may have been quieter for this match then they were when these two wrestled at SummerSlam last year. And that’s saying something.

HHH won after hitting Lesnar in the head with a sledge hammer and then hitting the Pedigree on the ring steps.

John Cena vs. The Rock (champion) for the WWE Title

After a good, lengthy match, Rock went for a Rock bottom and Cena countered into the Attitude Adjustment for the pin. Rock then shook Cena’s hand as the crowd booed. Then they both stood on the stage and raised each others’ arms to more boos. People did not want to see Cena win here, but it was the smart thing to do for business. I’ve seen plenty of men boo Cena at shows in L.A., then go up and buy their kids Cena T-shirts.
