Lakers center Timofey Mozgov back practicing with Russia after groin injury
Lakers center Timofey Mozgov, who signed a four-year, $64-million deal as a free agent in July, is back working out after he injured a groin last Friday while playing for the Russian national team.
The Lakers said Mozgov participated in a full practice Wednesday with Russia and reported no pain from the injury after he got an MRI exam on Saturday.
The 7-foot-1 center was injured during an exhibition game between Russia and Ukraine last week.
Mozgov missed the next two games with Russia, but the Lakers said he’s not restricted from playing in any more games.
Mozgov, a six-year veteran, is expected to be the starting center for the Lakers this season.
He averaged 6.3 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.4 minutes last season for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
