Lonzo Ball is set to undergo surgery to his left knee on Tuesday

Lakers second-year guard Lonzo Ball will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday, the team announced Friday afternoon.

Ball had three different injuries to his left knee during the course of his rookie season. He sprained the medial collateral ligament in January and then bruised the knee later in the year. Ball was later found to have issues with the meniscus in his left knee.

Sources familiar with Ball’s injury have said the injury is not serious and won’t cause him to miss any time during the season.

Until Friday, Ball’s management team was considering different options for the treatment of the injury.

“The good news is all the things they’re evaluating as his options have him 100% ready for training camp,” general manager Rob Pelinka said Wednesday. “In terms of getting more information, you’d have to get that from his agent. We’re just excited to know he’s going to be 100% available for training camp.”

This won’t be the first treatment to Ball’s left knee this offseason. He had a platelet-rich plasma injection in the knee in early May. From that procedure, Ball needed about a month of recovery time before he was able to return to basketball activities.

The irritation in Ball’s knee returned in late June, when his team began considering other treatment options.

Ball missed 30 games last season with various injuries. The knee injuries accounted for most of his missed games. He also missed six games in December and early January because of a shoulder injury.
