LeBron James’ sons leaving Crossroads for Sierra Canyon

LeBron James’ sons, Bronny and Bryce, will be enrolling at Chatsworth Sierra Canyon next year, according to a person close to the family. James and his wife, Savannah, felt that Sierra Canyon would offer a better fit for basketball for their sons.

Both sons attended Santa Monica Crossroads this past season, joining their father in the Los Angeles area after he agreed to sign with the Lakers.

Bronny, James’ oldest child, will be entering ninth grade next season.

There has been speculation that Zaire Wade, the son of Dwyane Wade and a top senior-to-be guard in Florida, would be transferring to Sierra Canyon. LeBron posted on his Instagram account a picture of Zaire and Bronny in Sierra Canyon jerseys.

Sierra Canyon’s head of school, Jim Skrumbis, declined to comment on possible students enrolling.

Sierra Canyon’s boys and girls basketball teams won the CIF State Open Division championship last season.

The school, which goes from kindergarten through 12th grade, has long counted the children of stars among their students. Celebrities such as Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Kris Jenner sent their children there.

Last season, the basketball team featured Scotty Pippen Jr., KJ Martin, who is retired NBA player Kenyon Martin’s son, and Cassius Stanley, the son of longtime sports agent Jerome Stanley. All three of them will graduate this year with Stanley headed to Duke and Pippen and Martin headed to Vanderbilt.

James had homes in Brentwood long before he played for the Lakers, but during basketball season his family goes to whatever city in which he’s playing. Living full-time with his family in Los Angeles was part of why James chose to sign with the Lakers.

Sierra Canyon seemed to be the frontrunner to land James’ sons last summer, with rumors circulating that would be their choice, but they opted to start at Crossroads.
