Raiders’ Ray-Ray Armstrong investigated for taunting police dog

Oakland linebacker Ray-Ray Armstrong reportedly is being investigated to determine whether he illegally taunted a police dog before Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh.

According to television station WTAE in Pittsburgh, a sheriff’s deputy said a player who was in uniform and heading to the field lifted his shirt, beat his chest and barked at the dog before telling another deputy to release the dog. The deputy didn’t release the dog.

Taunting a police dog is a third-degree felony in Pennsylvania. The deputy said surveillance video captured part of the encounter.

Randle suspended

Running back Joseph Randle was suspended four games by the NFL under the league’s personal conduct policy, one week after he was released by Dallas. The suspension begins immediately even though Randle is not on an active roster. He was already away from the Cowboys to deal with unspecified personal issues when they released him last Tuesday. He had started the first six games this season.

Bears’ Fabuluje suspended

Chicago offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje was suspended four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Fabuluje said in a statement he was informed he tested positive for an amphetamine after taking a supplement that did not list any banned substances on the label.

Talib loses appeal

Denver cornerback Aqib Talib will sit out this week’s game against Kansas City after losing his appeal of a one-game suspension for poking Indianapolis tight end Dwyane Allen in the eye after a play Sunday. The ruling was made by Derrick Brooks, a Hall of Fame linebacker who is now an NFL appeals officer.

Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown did not practice because of injured ribs, leaving his status for this week’s game at Pittsburgh uncertain. Johnny Manziel probably would start of McCown can’t play. . . . Washington put center Kory Lichtensteiger on injured reserve with a designation to return and signed free agent center Brian de la Puente. Lichtensteiger has a neck injury. . . . Offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, a first-round draft pick by Cincinnati who hasn’t played since suffering a torn knee ligament in a bowl game with Texas A&M, was cleared to practice, giving him a chance to play for the Bengals this season. . . . The New York Jets signed former Houston kicker Randy Bullock to step in for Nick Folk, who was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list with an injured right quadriceps. . . . San Francisco signed running back Travaris Cadet and released running back Pierre Thomas. . . . Minnesota put linebacker Audie Cole on injured reserve because of a broken right ankle and signed veteran linebacker Jason Trusnik.
