September might now be the favorite month for April Goss, who kicked an extra point for Kent State to become the second woman to score in a major college football game.

Goss, who has been on the roster for four seasons, made her kick with 4:30 left in the first half to give Kent State a 29-6 lead over Delaware State.

The kick was perfect, as it veered toward the right upright, but it was still good.

“I was a little disappointed I didn’t make a better kick,” said Goss, who played soccer before deciding to try football, during a phone interview with the Associated Press.

“I was sure it was going right, but it did go through. I’ll probably beat myself up for that for a little while, but it was awesome.”

Goss is the only female on a major college team, according to STATS LLC.

Katie Hnida kicked two extra points for New Mexico in 2003.
