There are many small battles in the long, hard process of bidding to host the Olympics. For LA 2024 officials, one of them will take place next week.

The private committee will send six representatives to the SportAccord Convention in Switzerland next week.

The group, headed by chairman Casey Wasserman and chief executive Gene Sykes, will have an opportunity to meet with national sports officials and industry executives from around the world.

More importantly, the convention is expected to draw as many as two dozen members of the International Olympic Committee, many of whom will vote on the 2024 host in September 2017.

One person not scheduled to attend is Mayor Eric Garcetti, who has otherwise played an active role in the bid so far.

Paris, which ranks as L.A.’s chief rival, is expected to send Mayor Anne Hidalgo, according to insidethegames.biz. Mayors from the other candidate cities -- Rome and Budapest -- are not expected in Switzerland.
