UCLA football: Bruins still a work in progress, Coach Jim Mora said

UCLA just completed its third spring camp under Coach Jim Mora, who said Thursday that he hoped things were just getting started.

Asked on the Pac-12 conference call if the program was where he wanted it, Mora responded, “I hope I never feel like that. Once you feel like that, you’re going in the wrong direction. We’re on the right track. There is always more to achieve.”

He had a short list handy.

“We need to win Pac-12 championships and Rose Bowls,” Mora said. “We need to be in the national title picture. We need to continue to graduate our student athletes. We’re really just getting started. We’re two years. That’s nothing.”

The Bruins are being framed as the “it” team for 2014, at least in the Pac-12.

The first sign post of those expectations came earlier this week, when the Pac-12 Network announced that the Bruins would be the only team featured on its show “The Drive” this fall.

Arizona State and California were the two featured teams last fall.

“They don’t put a team on there that they are not excepting to have a good season,” quarterback Brett Hundley said. “For us, we just have to stick to what we do. A lot of people think this could be a distraction, but at the end of the day, we should be able to handle our business.”
