USC receiver Joseph Lewis won’t face felony domestic violence charges
USC receiver Joseph Lewis will not face felony charges from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office following his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence on Feb. 12, district attorney spokesman Greg Risling said Wednesday.
Lewis’ case has been referred to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office. He could be charged with a misdemeanor.
Lewis remains suspended from team activities, a USC representative said Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Police Southwest Division arrested Lewis on suspicion of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. He was released Feb. 13 after posting $55,000 bail.
As a freshman last season, Lewis played in 11 games, mostly on special teams.
A former five-star recruit, Lewis starred at Los Angeles Hawkins High, a few miles south of USC’s campus.
Lewis has a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, the same day USC opens spring practice.
