USC is not sure if Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly will return from a foot injury and play Saturday at the Coliseum.

But the No. 16 Trojans know they must stop Sun Devils running back D.J. Foster.

The junior is averaging 135 yards rushing a game, ranking first in the Pac-12 Conference and ninth nationally.

Foster also is the Sun Devils’ second-leading receiver.

Last week against UCLA, Foster was limited to 30 yards in nine carries in a 62-27 defeat.

USC is giving up 198.8 yards rushing a game, which ranks 99th among 125 major college teams.

After giving up 452 yards rushing against Boston College, the Trojans limited Oregon State to 58.
