USC recruiting: Offensive lineman Cole Smith signs with Trojans
USC has received a letter of intent from Cole Smith, the school announced.
Player: Cole Smith
Position: Offensive lineman
Height: 6 feet 2
Weight: 260
High School: Mission Viejo
Verbally committed: Aug. 19, 2014
Schools considered: Arizona State, California, Utah and UCLA
Notes: Smith’s father, Doug, was a center and offensive guard for the Los Angeles Rams from1978-91 and was an assistant at USC in the 1990s.
Smith on choosing USC:
“USC is a great school that is close to home and it allows my parents to attend my games. The connections made at USC can set you up for life after football. Between my family legacy and the great football legacy at USC, I felt like I couldn’t go anywhere else. “
Smith on signing his letter of intent:
“It is a massive relief to know that my recruitment is over. It was very fun but also annoying and stressful at some points. I’m glad the way my recruitment went and I wouldn’t have it any other way and I’m ready to be a Trojan.”
