Trojans receiver Victor Blackwell remains absent from practice
USC’s roster, already depleted because of NCAA sanctions that limited the number of scholarships, remains thinner this week with the continued absence of receiver Victor Blackwell.
Blackwell, a junior, caught three passes in the opener against Fresno State, but he did not play against Boston College and has not practiced since. Blackwell was reportedly dissatisfied with his role.
Last week, Coach Steve Sarkisian and Blackwell’s father spoke on the sideline after practice for about 20 minutes.
Asked Tuesday if Blackwell was in limbo, Sarkisian replied, “There is not even a limbo to be in. We haven’t seen him in over two weeks.”
Asked if Blackwell was still on the team, Sarkisian said, “We’ll have to see. Whenever he wants to decide to come and meet with me, then we’ll talk about it.”
USC plays Arizona State on Saturday at the Coliseum.
