Readers recommend: For international travel, rent a cellphone
I recently traveled to Japan and took a cellphone that I rented from https://www.travelcell.com. I was given this tip by the tour operator. You are sent a cellphone in a mailer for the country you are visiting; you return it when you get home. It determines what you owe. You don’t need to worry about connections, SIM cards, etc. The phone comes with clear directions.
