Hawaii: You couldn’t stay in this exclusive Kauai neighborhood -- until now
If you want to experience the good life on your next Hawaiian getaway, consider a stay in a multimillion-dollar vacation rental home while soaking up the sun along Kauai’s South Shore.
This slice of heaven on Earth is offered by The Lodge at Kukui’ula, just a few minutes’ drive from scenic Poipu Beach.
Ordinary folks can stay in upscale private residences while rubbing elbows with well-heeled neighbors.
The Lodge at Kukui’ula is a resort community within an exclusive enclave previously accessible only to property owners.
Some residents now rent their homes by the night to guests who want bragging rights over their friends staying down the road at one of the several hotels that dot the beach.
Luxury, of course, comes at a price.
Two-bedroom Club Cottages start at $1,000 a night, and four-bedroom Club Villas start at $1,700 a night.
Overnight guests have full access to the same amenities enjoyed by owners, including:
— An up-country farm. Given the resort stretches inland from the Pacific Ocean, guests can pick their own fruits, herbs and veggies with which to cook in their top-end kitchens;
— An 18-hole course designed by former pro Tom Weiskopf that’s located in a spectacular setting along the coastline; and
— The Spa at Kukui’ula, an 18,000-square-foot facility known for its Seven Step Wet Ritual, a treatment that uses ingredients grown in the spa’s own garden.
