Cyber Monday bargains on airfares and airline vacation packages
Cyber Monday brings one of the best airfare sales from Air New Zealand: L.A. to London starting at $498; to Auckland, New Zealand, starting at $798; and to Sydney, Australia, starting at $898. (Prices are round-trip; travel periods vary by destination.)
The airline’s discounts apply on selected dates, and also include premium economy and business premier fares. The sale is on until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Monday.
Here are other ongoing and new airfare sales to check out while doing your Cyber Monday shopping.
Alaska Airlines
One-way airfares start as low as $49 each way from L.A. to Las Vegas, San Francisco and San Jose. One-way fares to Seattle and Portland, Ore., start at $69, and $119 to Mexico City and New York City. Lowest fares on Alaska and Virgin America are for flights Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from Jan. 10 to March 7. Buy by 11:59 p.m. PST Monday.
American Airlines
Buy miles Monday and receive extra bonus miles. AAdvantage members who buy 10,000 to 24,000 miles get an extra 3,000. Buy as many as 150,000 and receive a bonus 120,000. You have until 9:59 p.m. PST Monday.
Also, American Airlines Vacations takes $100 off a four-day domestic trip with promotion code “BF100” and $150 off a six-day international trip using the code “BF150.” This sale ends Wednesday for travel through Sept. 30.
Cathay Pacific
Save up to 50% on economy flights to Asia, starting from $1,185 per person. (I checked online and found L.A.-Hong Kong airfares in February available at the sale price.) Take 60% off business fares, starting at $3,187. Travel Jan. 1 to May 23. Destinations include Taipei, Taiwan; Manila; Tokyo; Seoul; Yangon, Myanmar; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Bangalore, India. Sale ends Wednesday.
Delta Air Lines
Delta offers a sale on one destination: the Azores, islands about 800 miles off Portugal’s coast. Round-trip flights between L.A. and San Miguel Island start at the discounted price of $919 per person. You must purchase by Tuesday for travel between May 24 and Sept. 3.
Norwegian
The no-frills carrier offers L.A.-Paris one-way airfares starting at $149 each way for January through March. Other destinations on sale from L.A. include Barcelona, Spain; Oslo, Norway; London; and Rome. Travel dates vary by destination. Sale ends Monday.
Southwest Airlines
The airline offers Cyber Week discounts on hotel and flight vacation packages. Save $125 on U.S. destinations and $250 on international vacations (use promotion codes “SAVE125” and “SAVE250” respectively). Travel from now through Aug. 6; sale ends Dec. 4.
United Airlines
The airline’s Black Friday sale on vacation packages extends through 4 p.m. PST Thursday. One example: You can earn 10,000 miles per person in the airline’s United MileagePlus program for booking a seven-day flight and hotel package to Hawaii. Good for travel between Jan. 1 and April 12.
