Fairmont Chicago wants you to go shopping. Get a $100 Saks gift card for each night you stay

You need a really good reason to visit Chicago in winter, right? Here’s one: You’ll receive a $100 Saks Fifth Avenue gift card with a night at the luxe Fairmont Chicago.

The deal: This offer is easy to love. For starters, guests get a $100 gift card each night they stay (per room, not per person) to spend as you like. Prices start at $199 a night, excluding taxes.

For those who want to get right down to shopping, you’ll find Saks at 700 N. Michigan Ave.

The Fairmont also is in an ideal location (200 N. Columbus Drive) near Millennium Park to do a bit of touring. No matter the weather, it’s an easy stroll to the “Cloud Gate” sculpture (a.k.a. the Bean) for a selfie and then on to the Art Institute of Chicago.

Added savings: Join the Fairmont President’s Club program and use your membership number when you make a reservation. It’s free, and you’ll receive perks such as free in-room Wi-Fi and late checkout time.

When: The offer is good for stays through March 31, based on availability.

Tested: I checked this deal online and found availability Feb. 3 to 5 for a $209 room, excluding tax. That scores two gift cards ($200) and a weekend in the Windy City.

You’ll pay $13.95 per 24-hour period for in-room Wi-Fi, which you can dodge by joining the loyalty program. And don’t have a car if you can help it. Valet parking costs $70 a night, and there’s no self-parking alternative.

Info: Fairmont Chicago, (866) 540-4408
