Resort fees at 10 popular Las Vegas hotel-casinos set to increase

Resort fees are going up at 10 hotel-casinos in Las Vegas, including Caesars, Nobu and the Flamingo. Fees will increase between $1 and $3 a night starting March 1, according to Caesars Entertainment.

Resort fees are daily charges tacked on to your hotel bill for on-site amenities. Caesars increased resort fees on the same date last year.

Here are resort fees you can expect to pay beginning March 1:

Bally’s,$30

Caesars Palace, $35

The Cromwell, $35

Flamingo, $30

Harrah’s, $30

The Linq, $30

Nobu, $35

Paris, $35

Planet Hollywood, $35

Rio, $30

Though a buck or more may not seem like much, it adds up.

With tax, increased fees can inflate your daily hotel bill anywhere from $34 to nearly $40. Travelers dislike the fees because they are forced to pay for amenities they never use, such as free local phone calls and access to fitness centers.

In its 2016 fourth-quarter earnings report released Tuesday, Caesars cited “increased resort fees” as the No. 1 reason for a 5.8% increase in the average daily room rate.

Caesars’ biggest competitor, MGM Resorts, said the company doesn’t plan to increase resort fees at its hotels.

Resorts added a different type of fee last year: parking fees. With the notable exceptions of the Palazzo and the Venetian, major hotels on the Strip announced or implemented plans to begin charging for self- and valet parking.
