Wayne Newton is back, with a new Las Vegas show that’s ‘Up Close and Personal’
Wayne Newton has been performing since he was 6 years old. He turned 74 last Sunday -- and he’s not even close to calling it quits.
Newton, the crooner known as Mr. Las Vegas, will begin a new residency on the Strip starting April 21. The singer will be performing in the Windows Showroom at Bally’s Las Vegas.
Tickets go on sale Thursday.
In the new show, “Wayne Newton: Up Close and Personal,” Newton does more than sing.
In addition to performing hits such as “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast,” “Danke Schoen” and “Red Roses for a Blue Lady,” Newton also will play guitar and piano -- and take questions from the audience about his life and career.
Wayne Newton, a.k.a. Mr. Las Vegas, was one of the performers who helped open the new 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday, Newton helped launch Las Vegas’ new T-Mobile Arena during an opening concert that included the Killers and Shamir.
His last extended run on the Strip was a 2010 gig at the Tropicana. Before that, Newton’s name was on the marquee of the now-defunct Stardust, where he performed from 2000-05.
Newton has performed more than 30,000 shows in Sin City, a news release says.
Tickets to “Up Close and Personal” start at $75, with a VIP package that includes a meet-and-greet priced at $150. You can buy tickets online or by calling (702) 777-2782.
