Pop-up aquatic park in Newport Beach opens for summer season
For some splashy fun without going to a full-on water park, a Newport Beach marina and RV park has opened its summer pop-up floating playground in the still waters of the Back Bay.
The Moe B. Dunes Aquatic Park is a collection of inflatable water trampolines, teeter-totters, climbing walls and giant plastic icebergs. The idea is for kids to have fun and cool off while climbing and jumping on features off the bay’s Mother’s Beach.
The beach stretches for about a mile and is open to the public and to guests. In addition to the float park, you can rent a pedal boat, kayak, canoe, stand-up paddle board, hydro-bike or even a 14-foot catamaran and electric boats.
If you want to spend the night, there are more than 300 campsites for RVs and tents. Prices range from $79 to $300 a night on weekdays, $99 to $320 a night on weekends.
The aquatic park is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Labor Day. It costs $20 for two hours and $30 for four hours (resort guests pay $5 less). Also, on-site parking costs $18.
