Santa Monica: Amalfi Coast chef comes to cook at Shutters for a week
For a week this February, fans of Le Sirenuse on the Amalfi Coast won’t have to board a plane to soak up Italy’s coastal food and style. The hotel is coming for a “visit” to Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica where the two will collaborate on creating a week of memorable Mediterranean dishes for SoCal diners.
From Feb. 19 to 26, Italian chef Matteo Temperini from the Positano hotel joins Shutters’ executive chef Sven Mede in the kitchen at One Pico restaurant.
The Italians bring dishes such as roasted prawns with scampi bruschetta, lemon confit and local squid, and tortellini topped with black truffles and Parmesan fondue. Shutters’ signature entrees, such as grilled swordfish and Kurobuta pork chop with farro, will share the menu. Entrees start at $28, and three courses would cost about $60 per person, excluding wine.
Meals will be complemented with wines and spirits inspired by the region. One Pico is open 6-10 p.m. and reservations are strongly suggested, online at Open Table or (310) 458-0300.
A little pop-up collection from Emporio Le Sirenuse opens Feb. 19 and will sell Carlo Moretti Bora glasses and bowls, Positano canvas cases, scarves, totes, swimming trunks as well as fragrances and soaps.
