Hawaiian Airlines to add nonstops from L.A. to Kauai in the winter
Hawaiian Airlines will add nonstop flights to Kauai this winter, the second carrier to provide such service from Los Angeles.
In the past, Hawaiian has offered seasonal flights to Lihue during the holidays, but those stopped operation just after the New Year’s Day. For winter 2016, it will offer nonstops three days a week.
The service is set to begin Jan. 8 with Flight HA64 departing Lihue (LIH) at 1:15 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, arriving at Los Angeles International Airport at 8:55 p.m.
HA63 will depart LAX at 7:40 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, arriving at Lihue at 11:45 a.m.
United Airlines will offer daily nonstop service between the two airports in the winter.
Hawaiian uses a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on the route. United uses a 737-800.
Last year, Kauai ranked fourth in total visitors among Hawaii’s islands, receiving 1.1 million guests. That’s about one-fifth of the 5.2 million people who visited Oahu.
