Letters: Cruise complaints galore

Their worst cruise ever
We also traveled on the Queen Victoria’s 16-day voyage over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Beverly Beyette’s review [“New Queen Holds Court,” Jan. 20] was too kind. The stomach virus was rampant in England. The hand sanitizer appeared too late. The crew was miserable and rude. This was the worst cruise we have ever taken.

Do go ‘deluxe’
Molly Selvin’s article [“Lullaby of Ha Long Bay,” Jan. 20] brings back memories of our trip to Vietnam in January ’06. My husband and I took a two-day junk trip on Ha Long Bay. To our dismay, we found ourselves on a small, funky, little vessel. It was cold and foggy, and though the crew and guide did their best, we wish we had booked Selvin’s deluxe junk instead.

Shame on them
I was extremely disappointed in your answer to Marcia Glinsky’s letter [“Bum Voyage,” On the Spot, Jan. 20]. Glinsky used a travel agent who was working with Princess. Why did Princess and her travel agent book her into this situation? Where was the professionalism? Princess owes her a refund, not a credit, and her travel agent has some liability too. She placed her travel plans in supposedly professional hands and they failed her.
