In Idaho, unplug on a raft trip along the Salmon River
Disconnect from your everyday life on a raft trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, one of the nation’s best-known whitewater rivers.
Boasting more than 100 rapids in 100 miles, the Middle Fork runs through the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness area, known for its rugged mountains, deep canyons and wild, whitewater rivers.
Six-day Mountain Travel Sobek camping and rafting trips, designed for beginners and advanced participants, offer an adventurous ride down one of the world’s great rivers and a glimpse into the history of the area. Participants see geological strata, riverside hot springs, pit dwellings once inhabited by the Shoshone people and Gold Rush-era homesteads.
Highlights include hiking, fishing, relaxing in natural hot springs, visiting ancient rock pictographs and cooling off in the waters of Veil Falls.
Dates: Six-day trips are scheduled June 14 and 23; July 1, 9, 17 and 25; and Aug. 2 and 10.
Price: Rates from $1,995 per person (June departures only), $2,195 all other departures, including meals, accommodations, use of on-board gear and resources and rubber boots.
Airfare to and from Idaho is not included, nor is the $24 Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act fee.
