Komoda Store & Bakery, 3674 Baldwin Ave., Makawao; (808) 572-7261. You can’t throw a stick in Makawao without hearing someone rave about the cream puffs at this old-school bakery. Pastries are plentiful and super-cheap. Closed Wednesdays and Sundays.

Maliko Gulch Tours, (808) 268-3646. Tours cost $100 for up to two people, last about two hours and are not for the faint of heart or those with limited mobility.
