Carol S. Hemminger of Villa Park, Calif., sent in this photo, which was shot five years ago in Christchurch, New Zealand, near the Avon River.
“My husband was in Christchurch for a symposium,” she said. “I was enjoying the local sights when I happened upon a group of ‘Santas’ playing cards on their lunch break. Christmas comes in early summer in New Zealand, and the lush green complements the Santa suits to achieve the traditional Christmas colors. No white Christmas in Christchurch!”
