Where’s your luggage? Delta adds bag-tracking to its app
Delta Air Lines has rolled out a new feature on its Fly Delta smart-phone app that allows passengers to track checked luggage in real time and know which baggage carousel has their bags.
Jonathan Mayfield of Delta’s mobile product team explains on the airline’s blog: “Just enter the number on your bag tag receipt -- or iPhone users can scan the barcode -- and watch your bag’s journey from departure to arrival and all points in between.” It’s kind of like tracking a UPS or FedEx package.
The bag-tracking feature works for domestic and international flights, even while you’re in-flight. Hmm, so when I’m at 32,000 feet on a flight to New York (and assuming I have Wi-Fi access), do I really want to know that my bags inadvertently went to Denver? Maybe, maybe not.
The free app is available for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone users and will be available next year for BlackBerry.
