Australia: A total eclipse is the star of this outback tour
Watch a total solar eclipse with unobstructed views from the ruggedly beautiful and remote highlands of Australia’s northeastern coast. The seven-day trip from Elevate Destinations starts with two days in and around Sydney before heading to camp in the outback.
Eclipse viewing takes place in Amaroo, which is far from city lights and has a view of Uluru (Ayers Rock). The 50-acre site is within the “zone of totality” where the November 2012 eclipse will last longest -- almost two minutes. After the eclipse, participants spend a day helping to restore the Barron River and learning about the Green Corridor Project’s long-term rehabilitation plan for the area.
When: Nov. 9-15, 2012.
Price: $5,550 a person, double occupancy. Cost includes airport transfers, hotel and tent accommodations, tours, flights within Australia, some meals and guides. International airfare is not included.
