Ireland: Airfare, rental car and castle stays starting at $1,200
Six nights in castles, a rental car and round-trip airfare from L.A. to Dublin are all wrapped up in a tidy package that starts at $1,200 a person from the Aer Lingus Vacation Store. The offer is good for late fall and winter, but at this super-low price it’s worth busting out a few sweaters and good boots.
The deal: The Castles of Ireland package requires two travelers (double occupancy). It includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles, a rental car (standard) and stays at Duboyne Castle in Meath, Kilronan Castle in Roscommon, Dromoland Castle in Clare and Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dublin. This is a self-guided trip that also comes with a free tour of the Waterford crystal factory.
When: The sale ends Sept. 7 for travel November through February.
Tested: I found availability for this package Nov. 12-19 for $1,068 a person, excluding taxes. The Aer Lingus flights I selected included one stop each way in Chicago. You can add two nights at the famous Ashford Castle and extend the rental car for $200 more per person.
