A marching band marks launch of the Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot! residency
Reporting from Las Vegas — The Hard Rock Hotel knows how to help its resident shows open with a bang. For country stars Rascal Flatts, that meant a marching band and burnouts in NASCAR-style vehicles last Thursday.
Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts arrived at the resort with the Foothill High School Marching Band following them and playing the band’s “Fast Cars and Freedom” in front of Hard Rock Hotel’s monster-sized replica of a neon guitar.
The three then jumped in cars from the Richard Petty Driving Experience, and did burnouts in front of fans.
The three gave the marching band a $5,000 check for the high school’s music program.
That night, the band launched its Rascal Flatts Vegas Riot! residency at The Joint. They played some of their hits including “Riot,” “Mayberry,” “Bless the Broken Road,” “Me and My Gang,” and more. High-definition video displays, large LED screens, colorful lights, solo breaks and covers of songs including Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” were all on the agenda. The guys finished their first night with an encore performance of “Life is a Highway.”
The band’s nine-date residency continues Mar. 4, 6-7, 11 and 13-14. Tickets start at $39.50.
“We’re going to be here for three weeks,” DeMarcus says in a press statement. “Vegas will never be the same.”
