Carolyn Gilbert, an obituary writer who founded the International Assn. of Obituarists, has a new blog where she intends to dip into obits from her files and archives dealing with ‘the literary art of the obituary’:

My hope is that the content will provide an interesting perspective on the obituary, its writers and its readers. From time to time there will be postings of the obituaries of the day. However, the primary material will feature the story behind the story -- a look at the foundation for the tip of the iceberg: the obituary itself.

My favorite entry so far on the new blog is ‘If You Are Alive Today, You Need An Obituary!’
