Fashion News: Karlie Kloss appears at Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week started Tuesday, the last of the ‘bigs’ in the multi-city cycle showing clothes for fall-winter 2012. There were only a few shows on opening day, but they included model Karlie Kloss opening the Anthony Vaccarello show (where one model, shown here, stumbled and was helped by her peers) and a mime walking the runway at the Aganovich show. Bottega Veneta, Emilio Pucci, Marni, Prada, Jil Sander, Gucci and Etro were among the best-reviewed of the just-ended Milan shows for fall-winter. [Fashionista]

French fashion house Christian Dior launched DiorMag, an online magazine, on Wednesday, starting what promises to be a daily update with eight articles. The articles are all about Dior and its wares. Luckily for us here in the U.S., it is in English as well as French (with Chinese soon to come). [WWD]

Paula Abdul has been a Laker girl, dancer, singer, choreographer, product pitchwoman and judge on ‘American Idol’ and ‘The X-Factor.’ So of course she is is considering starting a fashion line. [WWD]

So far, it looks like people aren’t eager to shop on Facebook. Gap, Nordstrom and J.C. Penney are among retailers that have opened and closed ‘storefronts’ on Facebook in the last year. [Bloomberg]

Banana Republic is launching its second ‘Mad Men’ collection with a runway show on an airplane at 35,000 feet, with some fashion bloggers among the passengers. The collection goes on sale Thursday. [Fashionista]

Salvatore Ferragamo’s resort show this season will be the first runway show ever allowed inside the Louvre in Paris. Apparently the storied museum was amenable because Ferragamo is sponsoring a new exhibit, ‘The Saint Anne, Leonardo da Vinci’s Ultimate Masterpiece,’ that is scheduled to run there March 29 to June 25.
