The ‘Catawampus’ and an aboriginal ‘dream snake’

No, it’s not a children’s book -- it’s art installations on the grounds of the L.A. County Arboretum.

The Catawampus sculptures, made entirely of sticks, saplings and other organic materials stand more than 15 feet high, making them big enough to stroll through and climb around. This — along with ‘Serpent Trail,’ an artful, winding path — plus new children’s discovery exhibits, tree climbing contests and interactive activities are just some of the programs planned to encourage a wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
