If you don’t want to brave the long lines -- whether of morning traffic or of folks waiting to pick up freshly-made bánh mì in a crowded coffee shop -- it’s pretty easy to make the tasty Vietnamese baguette sandwiches at home. Cooking instructors Diane Cu and Todd Porter recently demonstrated how to do this in their Costa Mesa kitchen, with baguettes picked up that morning from their favorite Little Saigon bakery, ingredients they had on hand (they make bánh mì a lot), and fresh herbs and chiles from their garden.
