Anyone can do a ribbon cutting, right? To celebrate the opening of the new Santa Monica Place dining deck Friday morning, Art Coppola, chief executive of the Macerich Co., is going to cut what is being promoted as the ‘world’s largest lasagna.’

The food court at the new mall, located at 395 Santa Monica Place, features a variety of high-end retailers, including Beachy Cream and N’Ice Cream ice cream, Groundwork Coffee, L’Artisan du Chocolat, Rockenwagner Bakery, Curious Palate, Venokado wine store, as well as Primi al Mercato and Norcino from Valentino’s Piero Selvaggio. There is also a cooking school, Gourmandise.
