3 Food Events: Bacon brunch; taco cook-off; foodie fundraiser

Bacon Bonanza Brunch:In celebration of the newest bacon-inspired items from its Meat-cessories line, OnchMovement is partnering with Royal/T Japanese maid cafe to host a bacon-themed brunch Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pork enthusiasts can chow down on bacon and Nutella paninis, Onch’s happy face eggs, Cool Haus’ bacon ice cream sandwiches and the Onch x bacon high tea (with bacon egg salad and mini sandwiches). The NoHo Taco Cook-Off Festival: For a $4 entry, witness 20 amateur chefs compete in a taco cook-off in North Hollywood next month. The Mighty Boba Truck, King Kone, Baby’s Badass Burgers and Me So Hungry are among the 25 food trucks rolling to the event on Sept. 24, which will also feature piñatas and other festive activities. 3rd Annual Foodie Fundraiser: Presented by Grassroots Guerillas, an ad hoc non-profit, this year’s fundraiser beneficiary is WriteGirl, a creative writing and mentoring organization for teen girls in L.A. Chef Luis De Avila and team will prepare a four-course meal for $125 per person on Sept. 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Glendale. Tickets can be purchased online. Grassrootsguerillas.org.
