For one sun-splashed afternoon at least, Manny Ramirez played like the Manny that Dodgers fans came to love.
Making his first left-field start in spring training, Ramirez hit a two-run home run in the first inning off Chicago Cubs’ starter Ryan Dempster at the Dodgers’ spring-training complex at Camelback Ranch.
Ramirez, who has been the Dodgers’ designated hitter so far this spring, drove the ball over the left-field fence after Matt Kemp had doubled off Dempster.
And in the fourth inning, Ramirez made a leaping catch against the left-field wall, grabbing a long fly ball hit by the Cubs’ Tyler Colvin.
Ramirez then called it day, and Garret Anderson took over for him in the fifth inning with the Dodgers leading, 2-1.
