The next generation of Apple’s iPad tablet is expected to debut on March 2, according to widespread reports. On Wednesday morning, media invitations went out.
Our Technology blog writes, ‘The image on the invitation shows a giant ‘2’ covering what appears to be an iPad. The 2 is in the style of Apple’s calendar software, but the hint of a second version of the iPad is none too subtle.’
On Tuesday, when reports of the iPad 2’s likely launch date began circulating, our Technology blog explained:
The iPad 2 is widely expected to be thinner and lighter than the current version and add new features such as a front-facing camera for video chatting using Apple’s FaceTime software, as well as a possible SD-card slot and camera on the back for shooting video and photos.
So far, there has been no new news about changes to how e-books might be read on the iPad 2.
