Recommended for ages 4 and up, this set of alphabet blocks featuring the groovy folkloric drawings of Alexander Girard is a must for any self-respecting midcentury modernist fan -- with or without kids. In collaboration with the estate of the midcentury graphic artist and director of textile design for Herman Miller, House Industries has created a line of Girard toys and decorative objects. These carved wooden cubes (imprinted with child-safe inks) can be used as a puzzle, building blocks and -- of course -- for learning the ABCs.
Sold for $120 on the House Industries website, this too-cool-for-pre-school educational artwork was found by The Scout to be marked down to $64 at Garnet Hill. Score!
