Weekly Wrap-Up: Will.i.am’s studio, Barbra Streisand’s sale and guinea pig rescue

The print section is knock-’em-dead this week. Here’s what we’re looking at:
First, we take a tour of the chart-topping Black Eyed Peas’ frontman will.i.am’s sumptuous Los Feliz studio, designed by Liana Reid. Two words: leather floors. Oh, and the decor was inspired by the film ‘Horton Hears a Who!’
Then, ladies and gentlemen, Ms. Barbra Streisand. On the eve of the sale of some of her pieces by Julien’s Auctions, she talks us through her collecting style, even admitting she once designed an entire room around a lamp.
Next, it’s an exploration of the growing world of guinea pig rescue groups. Yes, they exist! And they are flooded with ‘boars,’ ‘sows’ and even ‘elderly/special needs’ animals. Click through our photo gallery to see pictures of an adoption and some cute guys who are looking for a forever home.
Emily Green writes a love letter to Susan Gottlieb, native gardener extraordinaire. And you can see why Green is swooning by checking out photos of Gottlieb’s garden here.
Audrey Davidow takes us on a tour of a man cave, a place where an outdoorsy dude can just relax and be himself. And keep his clutter to himself.
We’ve got some information on Sparaxis elegans, which the former director of the UC Irvine Arboretum calls ‘kaleiedoscope flowers.’
And finally, our Man of the House ruminates on the expensive-ness of everything.
