Rain, chilly temperatures expected for Southern California

Southern Californians will see a cool, damp start to Monday, but forecasters said the Southland’s version of winter weather would only intensify as the day progresses.

Temperatures in the mid- to upper 50s were expected for much of the region, along with occasional light rain. ‘Nothing major,’ said National Weather Service meteorologist Dave Bruno, ‘but it’s probably going to be damp.’

Steady showers should hit overnight, Bruno said, ending early Tuesday morning. However, as the rain clears, forecasters expect winds to pick up and temperatures to drop.

The high for Tuesday is expected to ‘maybe’ hit 60 degrees, Bruno said. Temperatures should then significantly drop overnight, ranging in the upper 30s to lower 40s, he said.

The weather should warm up by the end of the week, but Bruno said even then forecasters were only expecting temperatures in the 60s.

‘It’s good for Christmas,’ he said. ‘Right?’
