Woman stabbed to death in Montebello

A woman was stabbed to death in a home in Montebello, authorities said Wednesday night.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene in the 600 block of North 20th Street, a residential neighborhood north of Beverly Boulevard, according to authorities.
The crime was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said it had dispatched homicide detectives to assist Montebello police.
The woman’s name was not released. No additional details were immediately available.
[Updated 11:04 p.m.: Investigators have identified Emelio Martinez, 51, as a person of interest in the case, according to the Sheriff’s Department.]
At least 17 homicides have been reported in Montebello since January 2007, according to a Times Homicide Report database.
