Fiesta Guadalupana attracted thousands of people to downtown Los Angeles over the weekend for a celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
The two-day festival marked the Catholic feast day honoring the traditional teaching of the Virgin Mary’s appearance to indigenous peasant Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531. The celebration at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church (Iglesia Nuestra Senora Reina de los Angeles), across from historic Olvera Street, featured feast day Masses in addition to plenty of music and food.
The church’s feast day theme this year was ‘Do not be afraid. I am with you.’
