Chynna Phillips, the Wilson Phillips singer who’s married to actor Billy Baldwin, has entered rehab for treatment of anxiety.
‘After much thoughtful deliberation Chynna Phillips has checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility for anxiety,’ publicist Lizzie Grubman said in a statement Monday. ‘With the full support of her family and friends, she is looking forward to her recovery. We ask that people respect her and her family’s privacy at this time.’
[Updated, 11:50 a.m.: Chynna has been ‘having a hard time since the summer’ when half-sister Mackenzie Phillips’ tell-all book, ‘High on Arrival,’ was published, a source close to Chynna tells Gossip Cop.]
Chynna’s life has hardly been that of the average mother of three.
Mackenzie told InTouch magazine: ‘I love my sister so much, she was there for me and I am here for her,’ referring to her own struggle in September of last year when she alleged an incestuous relationship with their late father, singer John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas.
Mackenzie, the ‘One Day at a Time’ star who also toured with a 1982 incarnation of the Mamas and the Papas, is currently appearing in the third season of ‘Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew’ on VH1.
Another group member, Carnie Wilson, was just on the cover of People magazine saying ‘I need help,’ referring to her weight. The star of ‘Carnie Wilson: Unstapled’ has regained a good portion of the pounds she lost after gastric bypass surgery in 1999.
Chynna’s husband, Billy, recently popped up with news that he’ll have a guest starring role on ‘Gossip Girl’ starting this April. On Tuesday he told RadarOnline that, with his wife in rehab and three little kids to care for, he didn’t feel like dealing with the press.
Wendy Wilson is the third member of vocal group Wilson Phillips, which hit huge in 1990 after splashing on the music scene with the rep of kids with famous musical folks -- John Phillips and Michelle Phillips, of course, and Beach Boy Brian Wilson. The band, which released a greatest hits record in 2005, hasn’t toured in years.
Now, the Ministry is a bit on edge simply from rounding all this up.
Good luck and good health to you, Chynna. Heck, to everybody involved.
