Never underestimate the costume power of Lady Gaga.

She can dress like a character from “Where the Wild Things Are” one week; the next she’s Larry King?

As part of CNN’s 30th birthday celebration, Gaga appeared as a guest Tuesday on “Larry King Live” … and she seemed to take it very seriously. The 24-year-old singer appeared to be paying homage to the King by sporting sunglasses — a twist on King’s generic glasses, perhaps — a white shirt, a tie and black suspenders. Or could it have been an ode to Michael Jackson’s 30th anniversary concert in 2001? She was, after all, in talks to perform with the late King of Pop.

In any case, Gaga discussed everything from her career to her obsession with death. Sorry Little Monsters, but if you score tickets to one of Gaga’s performances, you might want to dress in black: “I’d rather die on stage,” the fashion maven said.

And though she was recently named one of Time magazine’s 200 “most influential people in the world,” the “Bad Romance” songstress doesn’t exactly consider herself an international icon. But that’s where death — again — plays a role.

“I hope when I’m dead I’ll be considered an icon, though.”

And what about those rumors of poor health and testing positive for lupus? She tells Larry, “You know, lupus is in my family. It’s genetic and … um … and the truth is I don’t show any signs, any symptoms of lupus, but I have tested borderline positive for the disease. As of right now, I do not have it, but I have to take good care of myself.”

Oh, and then there was the sneak peek she offered of her music video for her latest single, “Alejandro.” Enjoy (and let us know what you think of it in the comments):
