If you’re courting controversy, clearly the hottest date in town is Charlie Sheen. Ask Comedy Central, which announced Tuesday that Sheen would be the target of its next Hollywood roast.

‘You could say I’ve been providing kindling for this roast for a while,’ Sheen said in a statement. ‘It’s time to light it up. It’s going to be epic.’

You took the words right out of the Ministry’s mouth, Charlie -- it must have been while our jaw was on the floor, given Comedy Central’s other announcement: The roast will air only an hour after Ashton Kutcher‘s debut as Sheen’s replacement on ‘Two and a Half Men.’

Roast cameras will roll Sept. 10, but the special won’t premiere until 10 p.m. Sept. 19, just an hour after the revamped ‘Men’ goes up on CBS.

Coincidence, we’re sure.

While Kutcher will audition for America’s hearts on CBS, Comedy Central is guaranteeing that Sheen will be no one’s darling as comedians use his various personal implosions into fodder.

‘Charlie has assured us that nothing will be off limits in this roast … which scares even us,’ network honcho Kent Alterman said.
