Adele turns to ‘Basketball Wives’ in lieu of rock-star partying

Adele has topped music charts for weeks with her latest album, but don’t expect trashed hotel rooms and empty mini-bars from the British singer: She’s keeping it mellow as she rebounds from a canceled North American tour.
‘My band was out all night getting drunk,’ she cracked to an intimate crowd in The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, ‘while I stayed in my room like a true rock star and watched ‘Basketball Wives.’ ‘
Adele’s performance over the weekend marked one of a handful of small-scale appearances Adele has made since coming back from a bad case of laryngitis. Contracted in June, the illness kept the singer in bed in Los Angeles, forcing major cancellations.
Thank goodness Royce Reed and Shaunie O’Neal and the rest of the ‘Basketball Wives’ are keeping Adele company as she heals.
The Saturday concert, attended by the likes of ‘Meet the Parents’ actress Teri Polo, included the numbers ‘Rolling in The Deep’ and ‘Turning Tables’ as well as a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me.’
‘Glee’ stars Cory Monteith and Mark Salling (there to celebrate his birthday at Marquee Dayclub) buzzed around the property for the weekend, which also saw an outdoor show from Deathcab for Cutie.
The Cosmopolitan’s concert bookings have driven celeb traffic and fanfare since their inaugural Jay-Z and Coldplay gig on New Year’s Eve 2010. Adele will next appear along with Lady Gaga and Britney Spears on Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, and will do another block of intimate shows in October.
