Don’t bother trying to drive in the Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue block this morning. But if you’re a car enthusiast, it’s definitely worth walking around the area to see some of the hottest automobiles in the world. The city has cordoned off the entire block until the Gumball Rally cars leave around 9 a.m. to continue to their next destination in San Diego.
Hollywood got a taste of high-speed culture as hundreds of people looked in on the cars and celebrity drivers, which included ‘The Fast and the Furious’ ’ Tyrese Gibson, a few guys from MTV’s ‘Jackass’ and ‘Knight Rider’s’ David Hasselhoff. Unexpectedly, the Hoff didn’t roll in behind the wheel of KITT, which was experiencing some technical hiccups, but instead showed up in a stunning, jet black Audi R8. And despite the increased call for caution after last year’s fatal rally, the cars were still clocking in on police radars at speeds above those pesky highway limits.
Check back on Monday for a full report on the star-studded party at the Roosevelt Hotel.
